Applicable for most universal and semi-custom slip-on bench seat covers.
Common applications include classic and full-size pickup trucks, SUVs, and utility vehicles.
Please read all instructions completely before beginning installation.
Before You Begin
Factory Interiors slip-on seat covers are designed to refresh and protect original seats while maintaining a clean OEM-style appearance.
These covers are engineered to fit tightly over the factory seat and may require gradual stretching and adjustment during installation.
For best results:
- Install in temperatures above 72°F.
- Warm material stretches and contours more easily.
- Allow covers to relax at room temperature before installation.
- Professional installation is not typically required, but patience and careful alignment will improve final appearance.
Recommended Tools & Supplies
The following items may assist during installation:
- Phillips screwdriver
- Trim removal tools
- Flashlight
- Upholstery tucking tool
- Scissors or razor knife (if minor trimming is necessary)
- Additional zip ties or upholstery cord (optional)
Important Installation Notes
Do Not Force the Cover
Slip-on seat covers are intentionally manufactured snug for a cleaner appearance.
If the cover becomes tight during installation:
- Do not excessively pull the material.
- Work each side gradually and evenly.
- Reposition and stretch slowly as needed.
Aggressive pulling may damage seams or distort alignment.
Check Seat Function Before Final Tightening
Before securing all straps and cords:
- Verify seat movement.
- Check reclining or folding seat functions.
- Ensure seat brackets move freely.
Do not allow straps or strings to interfere with seat tracks or hinge mechanisms.
Warm Material Installs Easier
Vinyl and cloth seat covers become more flexible when warm.
Recommended methods:
- Allow covers to sit in direct sunlight.
- Warm gently with a hair dryer if necessary.
Do not overheat the material.
Installation Steps
1. Prepare the Seat
Before installing the new cover:
- Remove loose debris from the seat.
- Vacuum seat cushions and creases.
- Inspect seat foam and frame condition.
- Repair damaged springs or foam if necessary.
A clean, smooth foundation improves fit and appearance.
2. Attach Guide Strings
Locate the loops sewn into the seat cover.
Tie a string or cord to:
- The loops at the top of the backrest section
- The loops at the front or rear of the seat bottom section
These strings help pull and position the cover evenly during installation.
3. Install the Backrest Section
Position the seat cover over the seat back.
Carefully:
- Pull the cover downward evenly.
- Align the top corners of the seat cover.
- Ensure seams and pockets remain centered.
- Smooth wrinkles gradually while working downward.
Proper alignment at the top of the seat is important for overall fitment.
4. Position Seat Belt Openings
Push the seat cover material into the area where the seat bottom meets the seat back.
Feed seat belts through the designated openings in the cover.
Verify:
- Seat belts move freely
- Openings are aligned properly
- No material interferes with belt operation
5. Secure the Backrest Section
Locate the loops on the opposite side of the backrest.
Using the attached strings:
- Tie the upper and lower center loops first.
- Work gradually outward toward each side.
- Adjust tension evenly as you go.
Important:
Do not permanently knot the strings until:
- The cover is centered correctly
- The front storage pockets align properly
- The seat cover appearance is satisfactory
This allows final adjustments before tightening.
6. Secure the Seat Bottom
Using the strings already attached:
- Feed the strings through the loops located on the front or rear underside of the seat.
- Begin securing the seat cover from the center outward.
- Work evenly toward each side.
Gradual tightening helps prevent wrinkles and uneven tension.
7. Secure the Side Attachments
Locate the side loops on the seat cover.
Tie the loops securely to:
- Seat frame brackets
- Existing seat wires
- Other stable attachment points beneath the seat
Ensure all cords are:
- Tight enough to hold the cover securely
- Loose enough to avoid interfering with seat movement
A small amount of stretch in the strings is normal.
8. Check Seat Operation
Before completing installation:
- Fold the seat forward and backward if applicable.
- Verify reclining mechanisms work correctly.
- Ensure seat brackets move freely.
- Confirm seat belts function normally.
Adjust any straps or cords if interference occurs.
Installation is now complete.
Helpful Installation Tips

Warm Temperatures Improve Fitment
Installing in warm conditions allows the material to:
- Stretch more easily
